How did World War 1 (WW1) technology lay the framework to modern day war tech? Many of today's large weapons of war came from the first World War. Now it may not seem that way because when most people think of the first World War they think of sitting in trenches with rifles. While that statement is very true much more happened in terms of technological advancements. Many famous weapons of war were invented in WW1 from tanks to weaponized aircraft many things were created that still hold a big place in modern warfare.

Many modern machine guns can dump 1000s of bullets in less than a minute. Back then early machine guns could shoot 300-500 hundred rounds per minute. However towards the end of the war that number increased to about 700-800. This was revolutionary for the time period. No one ever believed that a weapon could fire as fast as machines gun did for machine guns were never thought to be something that would exist. While WW1 machine guns make look like child's play compared to today's machine guns these weapons are no laughing matter. They still pack a very powerful punch and for there time are revolutionary and beautiful weapons. Another big change is the design. While before these guns constantly needed water poured on them or else they would melt. Today's light machine guns will still get hot when firing but not as frequently and not require as much water. The magazine size and shapes have changed as well. While early machine guns designed for infantry had disk shaped mags on top of the guns and giant mags that laid across the top most machine gun magazines today are boxes that sit on the bottom left of the gun. Machine guns still play a big role in today's military and we have their extensive use and development during World War 1 to
