Over the past few days I have been observing the process of communications between males and females in order to see if women really do talk more than men do. I didn’t make a big deal of it such as writing down the data because I didn’t want anyone to think I was being creepy, but I did manage to clearly observe and find valuable information that will break the stereotypes that states that woman talk way too much compared to men.
“Women’s tongues are like lambs’ tails – they are never still.” an English proverb that Janet Holmes pointed out in her article WOMEN TALK TOO MUCH! This stats that a women talks non stop and is being compared to an animals body part, the tail of a lamb. When reading all of these so called proverbs, I was actually offened by some of them. And no I wasn’t offended because they were true, I was offended because some actually believed that these sayings were funny and true. In reality we know that women and men are equal, especially now in the year 2016. But the fact that these stereotypes that all women do is talk and all men do is listen is insane! It was funny to me at first until I had exposed the saying to a group of my friends who believed that it was unnecessary to compare women to lambs. Also a few of them began to debat whether woman actually talk more than men and 4 out of my 6 friends believed that women and men both talk either too much or too little.
