Comcast Industry Analysis Paper

This paper has three parts. The first provides a background on the company as well as the critical factors within their macro environment. I will also explain why they are threats and how they affect the industry. I have also conducted a porters five forces analysis of the industry, and included which threats were high for the company and which were low. Second part of the paper explains the threats the cable industry has on Comcast and how the company is responding to the threats. The last part of the paper emphasis on the internal environment of the company. How Comcast motivation style is affecting their employees and how that process can be improved for employees and for Comcast.

Comcast remains among the least-liked companies in American history. A new survey from 24/7 Wall Street combines data from the American Consumer Satisfaction Index, JD Power and Associates and a Zogby Analytics poll, and lists Comcast as the "most hated company in America." Comcast had made some small strides in the ACSI rankings last year, but even with minor improvements still consistently battles Charter for last place in most customer satisfaction and service studies. The company’s internet services received the fourth worst score out of some 350 companies. In J.D. Power’s rating of major wireline services, only Time Warner Cable recently subsumed by Charter received a worse score in overall satisfaction, notes the report, which adds that Comcast received the worst scores in consumer costs, billing, and reliability. Each of these threats can negatively affect the industry. To stay competitive with other businesses Comcast needs to keep their technology up to date this is an expensive upgrade for the company but it is needed. To make the process easier I would recommend Comcast to employee workers that are highly educated in the technology field. This will help with transitions as well with cost of doing the upgrade themselves instead of contracting the work. Second, competition can negatively affect the company by offering better deals to their customers or offering incentives to individuals to get them to become customers. I would recommend Comcast to offer customers upgrades or other incentive to stay with the company. Educate employees on good Customer service qualities for Comcast company would benefit them at this time as there are many bad reviews in the customer service area. There are also many regulations Comcast must abide by. These regulations mainly state and federal regulations. There is no way around the regulations I would recommend Comcast to abide by the rules so the company does not get punished and charged fees that will cost the
