My co-facilitation assignments occurred during Week 6 and with the focus on Performance Improvement. During prior co-f facilitation assignments, I have found it helpful to establish communication with the team as early as possible. This is done so that expectation and goals are established before the facilitation work begins. I sent out an initial introductory note to the team during Week 3 of class, but received no response due to team member changes. After receiving Dr. Milman’s draft lecture notes and instructions during Week 5, I reached out to the new team. My goal was to introduce myself and initiate the discussion of responsibilities. In the initial email, I outline the following:
• Introduction and review of assignment.
• Communications o Establish a communication protocol (iChat, Gmail, text or google docs). o Frequency of communications o Schedule availability o Expectations regarding response timing to discussion questions
• Buy- In on Responsibilities o Discussion questions selection. o Identify potential issues with the assignment.

The class identified current and shared solutions used on HPI problems in their various organizations. Some class members share HPI issues and requested solutions. The prevailing theme in the HPI issues identified was the need to provide effective HPI goals. In those goals expectations and responsibilities should be should be clearly communicated to the entire organization. Many of the gaps identified by class members were due to unclear communication of roles, responsibilities, and limitations. Many of the interventions and solutions offered were not based on technology. Interventions can range from updating documentation to reallocation of resources. Technology was a useful to tool to identify gaps and provide solutions but it was not seen as a standalone
