Charlie Monologue

“See that cloud, it looks like two dancers bowing to each other.” I exclaim.
“Oh, yes.” says Charlie.
“That cloud looks like a little girl dancing in circles.” I whisper.
“Hello you two love birds,” Will makes a chirping noise, and I wonder where he came from.
We three used to all hang together, until recently. I think Will gets jealous, because often times it is just me and Charlie, but I’m not sure if it is me he is jealous of or Charlie. Will lays down on the blanket next to us, pushing me closer to Charlie, when my bare arm touches Charlie’s, it tingles; and, I feel it clear down in my stomach.
Charlie has been in my life, since I can remember. Before school started, I used to stay at his house, while my mother taught at the college.

I wonder if he is jealous. When he looks down at me, and Will still laying on the blanket with his beautiful deep brown eyes, I think I see a hint of pain in them, he certainly is frowning.
“Come on now,” he says, reaching down to help me up. I think, when did his arms get so strong?
“We need to get back to my house, I’m sure my Mom has something for us to eat waiting.” he says.
Charlie pushes Will away and stands between us when Will gets up. I feel a smile trying to form on my lips, I work hard to keep it from showing. HE IS JEALOUS.
“ Tell me tomorrow in school.” Will winks at me.
Now I mumble, “Okay, in the morning.”
As Will heads towards his house. We quietly walk to Charlie’s house. He reaches down and holds my hand. My mouth is dry, and that butterfly feeling is there in my stomach again.
When we finish eating. Charlie says, “I’ve decided I want to go to the dance, and I want you to go with me, not with Will. Will you go to the dance with me?”
I don’t believe his words, and I can’t hide my giggle, “I thought you would never ask, and I will teach you how to dance, before we go.” I say with a
