Based on the challenges Sergio Marchionne was faced with when he took the helm of Chrysler Corporation, the framework he chose to change the culture, was the best choice. Unfortunately, he had to implement a major shake up with leadership that would allow for a flatter structure, as well as, implemented some fear for those employees who remained with the company, which encouraged leadership to focus on moving this business toward future success. If he allowed the too much flexibility, such as the clan or adhocracy culture, I am certain, without more stability and control, Chrysler would not have been financially successful after coming out of bankruptcy. However, Marchionne did create cohesiveness, as well as, communication, between leadership.
