Personal energy, self-belief and commitment have different degrees of impact on different styles. A pace setting approach is exhaustive and can have a negative impact on performance over time as it means that the leader tends to do all everything themselves to bring about a quick win. This can be seen in school, when subject leaders give themselves the key groups to bring about an improvement in results, plan lessons for others to deliver, run all the revisions sessions, take on the task of contacting al parents and take ownership.
