Personal energy, self-belief and commitment have different degrees of impact on different styles. A pace setting approach is exhaustive and can have a negative impact on performance over time as it means that the leader tends to do all everything themselves to bring about a quick win. This can be seen in school, when subject leaders give themselves the key groups to bring about an improvement in results, plan lessons for others to deliver, run all the revisions sessions, take on the task of contacting al parents and take ownership. Their self-belief is high as they have to be confident in their subject knowledge and their teaching ability. Levels of commitment are high as they are willing to give their time without consideration. However, as well as the personal consequences, it does not build capacity within the team and can result is disenfranchisement of team members. …show more content…
It can structure a rapid turn around and the need to do things differently, shaking people out of their initial shock and inertia. However, it is not sustainable and can alienate people.
