By using sales and promotion, one of the benefit is that it will help the company to draw customer's attention to a particular product or service that being offered. It distinguish the company from the rest of other in the competition in terms of prices. When the sales and promotions are offered for a limited time, it will help company to create urgency among customers because they have to act before the promotion expires. As a result, it can helps the limited supply to reduce the time before which the customers have to react. In most cases, it also will cease to compare alternatives and purchase the item or service that is offered at the best price and quality. For example, AEON roll out many different kinds of promotions for customers who is the one of AEON members. With AEON member card, customers can redeem the birthday gift vouchers during their birthday month. Besides, AEON members also can ejoy special 5% discount on selected items on the 5th and 25th of every month at Pasar Raya Maxvalu. Moreover, customers also able to get points redemption through their member card. The more customer purchase the product, the more the points customers will get. Sales and promotions can be disadvantageous when they are offered quiet regularly. By applying this concept, Aeon actually face the condition of price sensitivity by using sales and promotion as the tool to attract more customers to buy their product. The key to success with an effective sales and promotion is its irregular supply, and when it is a surprise for the customer. If it is done too often, it creates price sensitivity among customers. Price sensitivity should encourage the customers to buy things only when promoted into a sale rather than buy at the regular retail price. For example, consumers are expected to be more price sensitive and will shop for the best values in town. On top of the change and shift in consumers' behavior competition is expected to be keener, especially with the presence of foreign retailers and further addition of retail floor space. Despite moving into a new era of consumer spending with the implementation of GST, AEON remains positive on its prospect and is confident that with the current steady employment and income as well as the continuous support and initiatives by the government to lighten the burden on consumers through ongoing efforts such as price reduction campaigns, consumer sentiments will remain positive.
