In a day and age where equality is so highly conversed about, and where people are trying to be more accepting of races and sexualities, I find that those who aren’t in those “minorities” are receiving more hateful and bigoted comments than those in them. The amount of hate directed towards straight people, “cisgendered” people, those who are white, and especially men is terrible and hypocritical for those who spout that hateful speech at one rally and “equality now!” at the next. Especially with the result of the recent election, hate crimes against Republicans and white men have skyrocketed, with people being beaten half to death and getting away scot-free just because they live in a liberal area. As I, living in Maryland, live in such an intolerant society to the beliefs thought “radical” or “ignorant” by some, there is little I can do to stop the rampant sexism in the country that has just gone too far. All I can do is take a little solace in the knowledge that there are some living in a more accepting society than I and that they hopefully are working for
