Ty excelled in the various school subjects. The only subject Ty felt disadvantaged in, was math. Ty did not receive homework help from her parents. Her parents were willing to help, but they lacked the math skills and overall academic fortitude to adequately offer assistance. Ty thought that her peers growing up considered her outgoing, fun and confident. Her childhood self image was a healthy one. Ty felt competent in her abilities to help others, whether it was with homework, or making sure they were included in a childhood games. I would describe Ty as a natural born leader. Sensitive, kind and aware of others.
Ty’s presentation of herself as a child was that she was a shy kid. She felt as though she were not as well off as the other kids, financially and this may have contributed to her propensity for shyness. She trusted she was well liked by her peers and was assured by her social strengths and academic proficiencies. She felt competent about her physical appearance and her athletic abilities. Ty felt inferior financially, because she grew up in Minnetonka; which is a rather affluent suburb. Ty was aware of her family being on a budget when her peers seemed to have unlimited financial
