Ty suffered from many things but one of the most painful of them all was losing his parents at a young age. The author Tim Green reveals this at the beginning of the book when he said “But special he was, a boy without parents, and a boy whose only other living relatives (beside his NFL brother) had been buried away in a into a government witness protection system.” (Green, 4) Tim Green then brings it back up later in the book when Ty is talking to a friend about her cousin's dad and Ty says “Okay, I won’t. Ty felt a pang of jealousy.” (Green, 169) Ty felt the pang of jealousy because he was suffering from his parents death knowing his friends still had their parents. Although Ty does suffer in other ways throughout the book when his brother Thane gets hit in his knee which torn many ligaments in Thanes knee, which forced Ty to sit at the hospital and watch his brother sit in pain. Ty could not sit there and watch his brother Thane suffer without suffering himself. Then in the end of the book Ty is kidnapped by the mobster and was tied up and put in a room. Ty then suffered then not knowing if he would be killed or even ever see his brother and friends again. Those points are great points on how Ty suffered throughout the book ‘Deep Zone’.
