The name of the core competency is Apply quality improvement. For the organization strategic plan, C.D and her staff are planning to improve the level of care provided by health care professionals as “proof of better documentation in evidence-based preventative measures.” What are some of the evidence required by your organization C.D? She stated that “we look for proof of things like the flu-and pneumonia vaccines; heart diseases; body mass indexes (BMI’s); obesity; mammograms; colonoscopy and tobacco smoking/cessation.” Post documentation is significant in how safe care was done and for reimbursement purposes. She mentioned that the working environment is crucial for everyone’s safety and prevention including patient outcomes in surgical and clinic settings. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS); The recertification through National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) along with the Joint Commission preparation are fundamental to achieving our goals and objectives. Post documentation is significant in how safe care was done and for reimbursement purposes improving quality. Certainly these responsibilities are vigorous and I believe C.D has to have a compassion for staying in this position for 3 years.
C.D’s role as a RN-BSN-prepared nurse to support the strategic plan (applying quality improvement) is to work attentively to evaluate the data and information post documentation. Since this is one of the areas that CMS is now targeting because of patient satisfaction, she ensured me that she will work seamlessly with her staff to get the job done. I will take it that you hardly get breaks around her? She replied “Breaks! What is that?” From her answer, I quickly confirmed that her plans of meeting her goals, is almost similar to mine; many times we have to eat on the run.
