The application of evidence-based practice (EBP) in nursing has created substantial impressions in science, education, and practice in the discipline. The field does not develop new nursing knowledge or validate existing data; rather, it enables medical practitioners to use tried and tested techniques to make clinical decisions. This paper review literature to reveal the way EBP incorporates patient values, preferences, and clinical experiences in nursing practice. The analysis section translates the implications of evidence and knowledge when implementing best practice in nursing into clinical practice. This is followed by an explicit explanation of the relevance and numerous benefits of EBP in nursing. Review of literature Researchers have advanced several definitions of evidence-based practice in literature. According to Sortedahl (2012), it is the explicit use of research derived from theory to make critical decisions about caring for individuals or patient groups while considering the needs and preferences of each individual. Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt (2005) advanced a definition that is pertinent to nursing education.
