Evidence-based practice (EBP) has changed nursing significantly. EBP contributes to safe, quality nursing standards. Utilizing the most up to date research in the nursing field can assist in enhancing the care environment and nursing practices.
In this portion of my educational training, I learn how to assess the validity of research studies. I learned how to be an independent judge of the information, and the methods researcher use to obtain information. Nursing has always centered on the science of and art of compassionately providing care for those under our care, to do no harm. As medicine evolves and there is increased use of technology, we as nurses will also be required to grow. We will need to change and adapt how we practice and

Many of them did not meet the standards of relevancy or believability. Many of the items in the primary search were not peer reviewed or were not relevant to my topic. Using the tools, I had learned throughout the course, and I was able to choose research that was relevant and of high quality.
Task one showed the process used to assess the validity of a research paper. Using the steps of 1) Background. 2) Review. 3)Methodology. 4)Data Analysis. 5) Researches Conclusions 6) Strengths and limitations of the research. Following the six steps allowed for easy assessment of the information with a research article.
I now look at research differently. I now have tools as to what is a systematic review or meta-analysis and how this highest level or evidence compares to other levels. The other study levels including randomized controlled trials. I now understand the differences between a quantitative or qualitative study. The knowledge I have gained lets me determine the research study author has valid conclusions. How to look for a conflict of interest and how to determine whether findings apply to my clinical
