In its centenary year, ANZAC Cottage will continue to commemorate its humble beginnings and the lost servicemen that gave rise to its creation, on Saturday, November 12, at 10:45am when the Friends of ANZAC Cottage will conduct a Remembrance Ceremony in the front garden of the Cottage.
Remembrance embraced
For forty-eight years after his receipt of the Cottage, returned wounded World War I soldier, Private John Porter rose at 4:30am raising the flag at the Cottage's flagpole in acknowledgement and respect for his fellow servicemen. The flagpole itself has an interesting story as it commemorates a young soldier who gave his life at Gallipoli.

As part of the Open House Perth program inspect ANZAC Cottage and have your questions answered by a descendant of John Porter, the lucky recipient of the Cottage 100 years ago. Tours of the Cottage and the opportunity to hear the Cottage's unique story will feature on both Open Days.
Entry is free with afternoon tea available for a gold coin donation.
