Everyone should acknowledge the history of their hometowns and embrace it. Growing up in a mostly latino community opens you up to different cultures. I firmly believe that this town has made me a better person. Every hometown impacts a person and helps form the person you will be in the future the different environments is what helps change a person.
People often ask how different would your life be if you had grown up somewhere else. Well the answer to that question is simply it would be drastically different. I was born in Bayonne, New Jersey which in fact is drastically different than Perth Amboy. If I still lived in Bayonne I wouldn’t have attended Mater Dei Prep and I would have never met my friends. So where you do live in my opinion ultimately determines your future.
Perth Amboy was once home to the capital of the Province of New Jersey. This magnificent city was once home to William Franklin, who was the son of Benjamin Franklin. William Franklin lived in the Proprietary House, which is the last governor's mansion of the original Thirteen Colonies still in existence. Another interesting fact is that at one point Perth Amboy was home to all the vaseline in the world. Did you know that the world's first submarine was created in New Jersey? That’s right in 1896 John Holland’s design of the submarine was finally created at the Industrial Iron Works and Machine Shop in Perth
