Emmanuel has placed many facts into this source to support the legalization of PAS. I will cite, from this source, one such fact. “Each year, approximately 2.3 million Americans die” (632). Emmanuel has estimated that only 50 percent of this number will die in a manner that they would be able to request PAS or euthanasia (632). He also cites that in many deaths, patients would not be considered competent enough to request PAS (632). Another interesting fact I will be citing in this paper is that, in all but 5 percent of cases, palliative care would be acceptable to manage the pain of dying patients (633).
