The History Of 3D Animation

Animation is the process of making the vison of motion and the figment of change by different means such as, fast moving display of images that follow upon one another and that do only have small changes to them to form an animation. Animators are artists that specialize in the creation of animation. There are a few different creation methods in animation, Traditional animation, Stop-motion animation, Computer animation, 2D animation, 3D animation.

Traditional animation (Cel Animation) -
The individual frames of a traditional animation are the photographs that have been taken from drawings, drawn on paper at first. To make an animation each drawing is different from the one before it to create the figment of animation. The animators’ drawings are traced to transparent acetate sheets that are known as cels, these are filled with paints. The finished cels are photographed against a painted background by a rostrum camera to the motion picture. Various programs can be used to color the drawings and act as a simulation for camera movement and effects. Examples of traditional animations are Pinocchio (United States,1940), Animal Farm (United Kingdom,1954), The Illusionist(British-French,2010). Traditional animations that were produced with the help of computer technology include The Lion King(US,1994), The Prince of Egypt(US,1998), Akira (Japan, 1988),

Most of the 3D animations today are done by using CGI. From something as simple as a short cartoon to something as complex as a feature-length film, an animation is a complicated art that takes a lot of practice and skill in order to properly execute. The most famous company that creates animations is Pixar Animation Studios. Founded in 1985, they have created the very first all-CGI movie in 1995, Toy Story, and they have made a dozen full movies to date. Pixar created an entire business out of the art of 3D
