Andrew Jackson Play Analysis

This Saturday I went to the W.M Turner Auditorium to see the play Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. The play took place in the early 19th century and followed the life of our 7th president Andrew Jackson. This musical was written by Alex Timbers, and the music and lyrics were done by Michael Friedman. The director of the show was Angela Bacarisse and the costume design was done by Cloey Hammonds. Overall the play was very enjoyable, from the singing, to the comic relief, to the accuracy of the evidence in the play. All those and more really made it enjoyable to see. The story of the play was basically following Andrew Jackson from childhood to death. There was a narrator that would appear to help guild the audiences but was killed off during the play. The play was very accurate with the language and accents and also with the focus center of Andrew Jackson. From the death of his family by Native Americans, to the taking of Florida from the Spanish, and also eventually to the arrival and aftermath of precedency which led to a genocide of Native Americans. …show more content…
Another major element that kept re-occurring within Andrew Jackson was his obsession with wanting to kill the Native Americans. This the center of his life and it took him over throughout the play. The moral would definitely have to be really thinking about what you’re doing and how it effects other people. Andrew Jackson had many chance in life for joy that he missed because he was busy doing other things that he was obsessed about. Only till the end does he realize that if only he really considered his action he would have had a more joyful
