Henrietta Leavitt was played by Katie Piper, Margaret Leavitt was played by Sarah Lambert, Peter Shaw was played by Morgan Gates, Annie Cannon was played by Julia Whalen, and Williamina Fleming was played by Beth Ryan. All of the actors were convincing of the roles they played, and I didn’t dislike any of the actors. Having to choose one favorite actor or character from this play is very difficult, but my favorite actor would be Ms. Ryan, who played the character Williamina Fleming. She was my favorite actor because she portrayed her character the best and she was convincing of her part in the play. I liked that she had a very comical part in the play too. The comical personalities all the characters had helped the audience become more intrigued in the story of this play. From this play, I liked that there was only one actor for each character. Whether those choices make or break you as a person. This play tells the story of a woman making choices in life, some that she didn’t want to make. Henrietta had to make the choice in whether to keep trying to fight for equality in the observatory, or to just accept the fact that she didn’t have any rights to look through the telescope. Henrietta made a choice that altered her life; she kept fighting for rights and went on to discover a very important observation of that time. Though she didn’t get to see what her discovery truly led to, it helped more discoveries occur. Silent Sky is an educational play that teaches the lesson of never giving up, never stop fighting for your rights, and never give up on your dreams. I enjoyed watching this play because it opened my eyes up to all of the history that had occurred at the time that I didn’t know happened. I didn’t know equality was as severe as it was. I liked this play because it was persuasive to the audience and told a valuable, inspirational
