Let me start by saying that when I first read this article I thought that Ariel Levy was crazy. Her point of view was completely opposite from mine. The way she expressed of everything females have accomplished in the past 80 years was wrong comparing it to my ideas. I didn’t like the way she refer to female’s has chauvinist pigs; women who have objectified other women and themselves. But after doing some research of my own and comparing it to my own life experiences, I started to see her point of view. Everything she stated on the documentary was somewhat true. Female movement was meant to empower and liberate women no to promote sexuality. Even after almost a decade of the civil rights movement we still seem to have some unresolved problems, like the new raunchy culture which is a term Levy gave to explain the high sexually rate of the United States.
Giving us the wrong idea that if women had the right to be free then women also had the right to make and appear on pornography, just like men had done throughout the generations. We started to sexually objectify our self and other women believing that this is a form of empowerment and liberation. Even though we are free to dress and act the way we want, we choose to dress in a way where we would please men by exposing our self more and more.
