May 22, 2011 began as an ordinary day only to take a turn for the worse. It was the summer of my seventh grade year when my dad and I decided to go fishing for the day. It was a hot, dry Sunday on Clark’s Hill Lake. The reflection of the sun off of the water was like a mirror that only added to the intensity. We began fishing early that morning and by mid-day we were beat by the heat. It was time to take the hour trip back home. However, the one hour trip home turned into roughly a ten hour trip. I propped my arm up on the window seal of the Chevrolet-Silverado 2500 to rest my head. The heat had completely drained me and it was all I could do to stay awake. My head was consistently sliding from my hand, my arm, and eventually into midair where I would finally catch myself and bring myself back to the starting position. However, at one point I was not awakened by the motions of drifting to sleep, but rather a swerving motion of the vehicle. Considering the truck was a 2500 model, it had a larger build and a larger motor than most, therefore, when it started swaying so did my whole body. I tried to open my eyes but everything was a blur. I was still half asleep. I saw a sign to the right of me that was nearly inches away from colliding with the vehicle. That couldn 't be possible. Did we hit it? Through my slurred, sleepy speech I asked my dad, “What are you doing?” “I’m losing control of the truck just…hold on…,” he responded. Hold on? What was that supposed
