The roots of gamification go back a 100 years when the 'Cracker Jack' Company began putting a toy in each of its cases. Since then a lot of organizations have utilized toys, games and different sorts of fun as a method for selling items. There are numerous other related ideas like the 'S&H Green Stamps', American Airlines' 'Frequent Flyer Program' et cetera that have some of gamification elements in them. However these examples differ from today’s gamification solutions that are more structured and focused on how to make solutions and programs more game like to achieve something like business results.
