The operations consists of airfield technicians, maintenance technicians, and facilities technicians. These bodies actually serve the customers, both the airlines and passengers. The airfield technicians make sure the runways and taxiways are to the standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration. Without doing this, the airport can yield extremely serious fines or reprimands. These can be as extreme as shutting the airport down until further notice or until the issue is properly resolved. This will stop all revenue for the Colorado Springs Airport. The maintenance and facilities technicians also ensure the airport is ready for the customers. They answer to the airlines issues. For example, if there is an issue with the jet bridge, what the passengers walk through to get on the actual aircraft, the facilities technicians will be the first to see what the issue is and resolve it as necessary.
