Effective communication can be described as a two way process, where each person takes responsibility for their actions. The study guide (n.d p.3) states that “Effective communication is important as a starting point for any relationship….and that no relationship can start without verbal communication.” This suggests that this process is a basic foundation towards verbally engaging with one another and is a key attribute towards developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults.
