How To Improve My Nutrition Action Plan

5. Action Plan Nutrition is critical to a healthy lifestyle. After analyzing the results from my diet analysis, I have determined that there are numerous areas in my diet that are in need of change. Specifically, three of the changes that I should implement in my diet to improve my nutrition are increasing my consumption of calcium and vitamin D by consuming three dairy products each day, replacing traditional meat such as chicken or beef with seafood for three meals each week, and increasing my intake of healthy grains by adding 2-3 more ounces of whole grains to my daily diet. Increasing my consumption of vitamin D and calcium is absolutely critical to my overall health. My diet analysis for the week showed that I was severely lacking both of these …show more content…
My weekly target value for seafood is 8 ounces, but I rarely consume this food type at all. By adding fish and other seafood to my diet, I will be reducing the amount of saturated fats in my diet, as well as adding omega 3 fatty acids to my diet, which I have been shown to lack in my diet currently. I plan to implement this nutritional change by first purchasing canned tuna. Canned tuna is a cheap and quick food staple that I can easily add to my diet on a college student budget. I also plan to implement this dietary change by purchasing frozen fish fillets while grocery shopping, rather than sticking to the chicken breast that I typically buy. Finally, I plan to increase my seafood intake through eating fish that my family catches to my diet. Many of my family members love to go fishing, and our freezer is stocked with frozen fish that is ready to cook. The next time my mom offers me her homemade soup or chili to take back to college with me, I could easily request to take back fish instead in order to add this inexpensive and nutritional staple to my
