History. Each test is separate (pertaining to that subject only) and is taken by high school students (9th-12th grade) at the end of the course. Students take these assessments in order to receive a high school diploma. The assessments determine whether the student is ready to move on to college or begin a career. The assessment results make up 25 percent of the school’s grade, which determines how well the school is doing. The scores also reflect the teachers’ effectiveness. This website taught me what a charter schools are all about. I never heard much about charter schools prior to moving to Louisiana. This website has showed me that charter schools have a lot of responsibility, though they are not as regulated as district schools. The fact that they are held accountable for their students’ success is what I agree with the most. This encourages teachers to perform at higher levels. The website has also shown that the keys to the charter schools’ success is autonomy, accountability, and choice. This website has ultimately taught me that there is more than one way to run a successful
