I am currently seventeen years old and am in my senior year of high school. I have work experience from working at my dad’s printing company, Oregon Blue Print, and for being a referee for the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District Sideout Volleyball program. Some of my skills, gained through working, are that I am able to work in fast paced environments, able to multi-task, and able to work well with others. During my high school years I have developed other skills such as leadership abilities, communication skills, and dedication. Using the skills I have gained through my years I plan on becoming a high school art teacher. I plan on going to a four year public university on the West Coast and then return, if I go out of state for college, to Oregon to teach. I am unsure of what kind of art I want to teach so I plan on majoring in “Art Teacher Education …show more content…
Not only is that major going to help me find my true passion but it will also better my skills in all mediums so if a student were to come to me with questions, I would be able to help. I feel prepared to achieve my goal because of the numerous things I have done in high school. I have leadership skills thanks to being Team Captain for JV Volleyball my sophomore and junior years and for being president of National Art Honor Society my senior year. The biggest aid in preparing for college, I feel, is National Art Honor Society. I was a founding member my junior year and I took part in the Microaggression project. I was dedicated to the project and had done my best to educate those who voiced their confusion, or sometimes anger, about the project. It had taught me to approach a person with ignorance with calmness and to see it as a moment to teach, not to be angry at their lack of knowledge. After that project NAHS did

One day, I took my one and a half year old nephew to a place called Gymboree, a gym with play equipment to help teach the children how to do various activities. My sister suggested that I should come see him play and climb on the equipment during the lesson. One of the workers came to the front and started the first exercise by singing a song. My nephew clapped, screamed, and danced to show his excitement. As I watched the lesson director sing and encourage the children, I realized how much I enjoyed it and how much I wanted to be in the director's shoes.…

High school marks the period in a person’s life where they strive to discover who they are as an individual and what they want to pursue later on in their careers. One main aspect of my high school years that has really defined who I am today is an organization called Business Professionals of America. BPA, for short, is an organization that assesses students in developing future skills and problem solving abilities by hosting competitions based off of real world scenarios. However, due to the organization’s co-curricular nature, in order to compete, it was required that a student would have to be enrolled in a career related course, which topics could range from business to health services and to even technology.…
