CASPA Personal Statement Essay

In my CASPA personal statement, I wrote about my parents, who are my role models and inspiration for pursuing a career in the medical field. They were immigrants from China and taught me Chinese, my first language. When I was a child, I spoke almost exclusively in Chinese until I started preschool. After I started school, I worked diligently to improve my English. Years of hard work paid off and I became fluent in English but, unfortunately, my Chinese language skills diminished. Because my parents are immigrants, their English is limited so I often act as their translator. They were unable to help me with my schoolwork because it was all in English so I relied heavily on my own problem-solving skills. At a young age, I started to translate

I want to be in Leadership because I want to improve my skills and help others to do the right thing. Set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new. Become like an explorer, cutting a path through the jungle for the rest of his group to follow. Though, it’s mostly about mapping out where you need to go to “win” as a team; becoming dynamic and inspiring. I want to bring compelling visions to the group and help motivate and inspire them to help deliver that vision.…

As a running and triathlon coach, getting the best out of athletes is what I do best: regrettably, coaches are so focused on others that they forget to take care of themself. I started the Masters of Public Administration (MPA) program after five years in academic research and teaching. I had lost my passion and took the opportunity to start over again. Last year, my goal was to explore local resources to support professional development as a new member in the community. Understandably, I began with networking with local professional organizations and advocacy groups.…

My interest in chemistry dates back to secondary school, I've been interested in chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, I wanted to pursue a degree that combines all or most of these, so I chose the Mathematical Sciences department and obtained my High School degree with an overall grade of 99.87 %. Becoming an AGPCNP will provide me with the knowledge and training to safely and effectively treat adult patients across the lifespan. Although I entered this program planning to work as an FNP, experiences during the pre-specialty year have confirmed my passion for the adult patient. Specifically, I hope to serve rural communities as a primary care provider, focusing my practice on the management of chronic disease in older adults. My passion for older adults is rooted in the experiences I had throughout the summers of my undergraduate career. I spent my summers with a nonprofit in rural North Carolina partnering with churches, social workers, and businesses to complete home repair for low-income families.…

The beginning of my undergraduate career is not impressive and not worthy of holding the title of a PA. A student’s GPA is important in order to be accepted into a medical school or any other healthcare professional school, I was well aware of that, but I did not hold the maturity to excel in my academia. However, I’m grateful to realize my mistake halfway through my semester and searched for help to turn the downhill route my grades were taking. In attempts to remedy my subpar GPA, I added a second major to help with my overall GPA; however, I did not choose a major that would be considered easy, but I chose Psychology, a major that is challenging. It soon became evident of my success in throughout the rest of my undergraduate years.…

Throughout elementary school, it was as if both my mother and I had to learn English. Slowly, but surely, we persevered and began to practice and master the beast of a language with its complex vocabulary and special “laws” of grammar. Persevering through the seemingly unconquerable moments allowed my mother to get better paying jobs and eventually lead her to buying us plane tickets to Peru to visit my grandparents.…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…
