AAA Studios have one downside to work with, a publisher. “Despite the fact publishers lack the expertise to develop games they often allow marketing people and middle managers to interfere with the design and demand changes” (Hill, 2012, para. 6). Indie Developers do not have to deal with the restrictions that are often in place because of publishers; so, their games are most of the time more unique and sometimes more brutal in their plots …show more content…
AAA Studios give us the cinematic experiences with massive attention to detail and Indie Developers bestow upon us unique games with different twist and creativity. These entities of game development are necessary for the life of video games. However, as much as Indie Developers do for the gaming world, AAA Studios will always come out on top because of their fine-tuned and polished

Video games are arguably even less associated with storytelling than comics are, with some critics believing “that the video-game form is incompatible with traditional concepts of narrative” (Bissel, 93). Where the medium truly excels, however, is with its capacity for immersion. Like how the addition of sound allowed filmgoers to not just watch the action but hear it, “Every new medium that has been invented … has increased the transporting power of narrative” (Rose, 36). Where readers of books and viewers of movies are passive, gamers take an active role in their narratives. In games like Mass Effect this means making key decisions that affect the development of the plot, but in games like Naughty Dog’s Uncharted and The Last of Us, this…

Turning your passion into work takes the enjoyment out of it, and turns a source of joy into a source of stress, especially when money is on the line. Though the developers of the games in “Indie Game: The Movie” say it is more about completing their games and bringing their visions to life than being about money, such as Tommy of “Super Meat Boy” saying that even if the game only makes him $20,000, it would be enough to make another Meat Boy, money is still a driving factor in their motivation. The developers in the documentary are all driven by a desire to see their work finished and distributed to the masses, regardless of the success it brings. They mostly just want their projects, their children, to be completed and shown to the world.…

The horror genre is however a fairly difficult subject and consists of multiple subfields that need to be taken into account. The question, which remains, is what makes a horror game and how horror is used in video games.…
