I. (Attention-getting statement): I am proud to be a soldier in the United States army.
II. (Establish credibility): I been in the military for 3 years.
III. (Relevancy statement): Soldiers having good military discipline is an important factor to not only the military but our country as well because our actions can have a negative impact on how America is viewed by other countries.
IV. (Central idea): Being a military soldier takes hard work, because a soldier must have good communication skills, teamwork skills, and be physically fit.

I. Communication
A. Making sure soldiers follow chain of command
1. Chain of command works through the line of authority and responsibility along which orders are passed within a military unit and also between different units.
2. Failure to follow chain of command can end in a soldier receiving a UCMJ action and possibly ending their career.
