I remember my uncle taking my cousins and I to Duns River Falls in Jamaica. At the bottom of the falls he took me from the shallow ends to the deep end, a good area where my head remained above the water if I stood on my tippy toes. My uncle laid his arms underneath me and taught me to relax and float. From time to time he would slowly remove his arms, allowing me to float without his support. I would freak out when I realized that his arms where no longer there holding me. Nonetheless, he would always catch and reassure me. As I had begun to process, he started to teach me how to kick and ‘pull against’ the water. I thought I would grasp it immediately but that was not the case. I didn’t feel as if I was moving. I felt stuck, so I gave up,
