As we proceeded up to Laiazzo, the friars left. Then we continued down to Tabriz, and went through a desert, which many bandits inhabited, before we reached Hormuz by the Persian Gulf. We finally got to the main route of the Silk Road. Where we were lead to Saciu, on the boarder of China. This was about where we left the caravan. We got to Shangdu, the capital of the Yuan dynasty, and to the Mongol court, where we met Kublai Khan, the Mongol emperor.
