My adventures in Boy Scout summer camp
You should really go to boy scout summer camp. Here is a short story on why you should go.
The first day after we arrived at camp we chose our bunkmates and tents I selected a kid named Daniel. Upon getting set up, a group of people who brought phones walked, up the trails on the mountain once we got to the top we found the sweet thing called cell service. We stayed up there for hours. On our way down, a kid tripped and hurt, his ankle so half the group stayed there and the other half left. The kid who twisted his ankle decided to start walking so they started down the mountain, the kid with the bad ankle tripped and pulled the rest of the group off the side, and they rolled down a small part of the

We were nearing the last day of the camp when we had to cook meals over a campfire. The consoler asked who wanted to use the lighter fluid to help with the fire Daniel was the one who was picked. I could already tell this was not going to end well. Daniel started pouring and pouring and pouring. Then he throws a match. Then he continues pouring spills some on a kid’s foot that kid ran. Then he kept pouring when the counselor yelled at him to stop pouring he unscrewed the cap and dumped the whole thing on the fire. The last thing I want to say about that is our food was burned I would not even call it food at that point. After our cooking disaster Daniel, could not find his food we do not even know what happened to it to this day my guess it was burned to the ground. On that night on the last day I was sleeping, I heard rattling under my bed while Daniel and I were talking and my friend Noah popped out from under my bed. We went to sleep that night woke up and we were leaving when two kids were not awake we went to wake them up we opened the tent and a snake popped out of their tents

Learning about the government, playing sports, meeting new people, and staying at a college for an entire week was a great experience for me at Boys State. On my way to the camp, I was anxious to arrive because I heard from previous campers that they had a great time. When I got there my thoughts had slightly changed, but I was still impressed. My experience at the 2016 Mississippi Boys State camp at Ole Miss was a life altering event because I was preparing for the change from high school to college, living away from home, and developing new friendships.…

Beginning with the 1977-78 school year, the Mid-Valley School District rented the former St. Patrick’s School in Olyphant. That school year, it was used as an elementary school for students who would have attended classes at the building in Olyphant that was condemned. This building was only big enough to accommodate the kindergarten through fourth grade students from Olyphant. Students from Olyphant in fifth and sixth grades continued to attend classes at the former junior high school. The former Mid-Valley Junior High School had many empty classrooms that school year. The junior high school and senior high school students continued to use the Mid-Valley Senior High School on split sessions.…

In the summer before seventh grade, still näive and unaware of the world around me, I arrived at a small, humble, yet well-known summer camp on the outskirts of San Antonio, with no clue that I would leave as a completely different individual with a completely different mindset. I would leave as someone who believed that things happened for a reason and that you are never alone, no matter how lonely you felt. In the six days that I spent at TBarM sports camp, I grew up and learned more about myself than I could’ve ever envisioned. One of my counselors, Caroline, a lively, warmhearted, and caring college freshman with a burning passion for God and helping others, and I were relaxing in the cabin by each other’s side on a sunny mid-July day on the second or third day of camp, attempting to memorize bible verses that we found especially beautiful and…

The process to creating this narrative of my belonging took a lot of reflecting reflect about the summer I had two years ago, which helped when I looked back at pictures we took there. Thinking back brought up a myriad of memories that I could fill books with. It also made me think about how I have changed in the past couple of years. My method to this creation was to write it as I was telling the story in my head, as I would reiterate verbally I would write it down, and then go back and add in all the description and detail in. I think I produced the best picture I could have painted for this story.…

Camp had been like a second home to me when I was younger. Our church would send us weeks at a time during the sizzling summers to girl power camps and conservatories. Long roads that seemed to go on without ends away from the city's noise where I could see only long pastures that contained cows and horses. I can still remember driving up the camps long driveway road the white gates that surround the perimeter held three different flags; American, Texan, and the Salvation Armys. This is the place I always hoped to return every summer, as the older I grew I was filled with excitement like a child for candy.…

The timid kids approached the buffalo, holding out their hand with a piece of lettuce. One by one they stuck their hand through the fence and the large, hairy, and slow buffalo reached its head towards the food. Over the summer I worked at the Woodlynde camp and one of the field trips was the zoo.…
