Swimsuit Narrative

“Mom I’m going to the stream.” I called. “Adalyn do you have your swimsuit?” Mom asked. “Yes, I replied. I walked out the door as I snapped my locket shut. I started walking down our gravel road. I was glad that I had a tank top on. The summers can get pretty hot here in Florida. As I walked farther down the path the trees were starting to appear. I fingered my locket as I walked into the forest. I heard some birds cry off in the distance as the trees swayed with a light breeze. I had been walking for about five minutes when I started to hear the trickling of the river, and then he river came into view. I love walking in the river’s clear blue waters. You can see little fish swimming among the rocks and plants, and if you stand still they will come up to you. In the stream you can see all the way to the bottom, it's so clear. The plants tickle your feet as you get deeper, and the water gets cooler. I reached for my locket, snapped it open, then snapped it shut. I walked back to shore and pulled off my shorts, my swimsuit was underneath. Then I pulled off my tank top. After I had a quick snack I walked to the deeper side of the stream and dove into the water. My hair streamed out behind me as I did the breaststroke. I opened my eyes under the water as I swam to the shallow side. I walked until the water …show more content…
All I saw was more rocks, more seaweed , and more fish. Finally when I couldn’t hold my breath any longer I swam to the surface and gasped for air. Slowly I swam to the bank and put on my clothes. I ate an apple and started for home. When I got home mom was sitting on the porch. “Back home early?” Mom asked. “Mom I lost my locket!” I cried. “The locket I gave you?” Mom asked. “Yes.” I replied. “ Oh I’m sure it will turn up somehow.” She said. After that day I never went back to the stream. I don’t know why. Years later I asked myself that same

I was over ecstatic when Fernando, (also known as Fernie) my best guy friend asked me to go on a walking adventure with him in our hometown of Kelseyville, California. We started off the day by walking in the forest alongside of Kelsey Creek. This forest has a really big meaning to Fernie and I, because we both love nature in every aspect and these walking adventures are not uncommon to us. Starting on the path we both got lost in our own thoughts, I got distracted by looking above me at the the canopy the tree branches created. My eyes followed the patterns the sunlight was creating as it broke through the leaves and cascaded onto the uneven forest floor.…

Kneeling, I tore strips of cloth from my pants and wound them around my bare feet. I made each movement slowly and deliberately, trying to regain my composure. After a few moments, I stood and ran for the glimmering water in the distance. If I could make the river, I could float downstream to camp; if I made it to the river, I would live. As I sprinted into the distance, I heard a noise and I looked behind me.…

It was a dark and stormy night in July. My friends and I were fishing in a boat on Sylvan Lake, and the water was beginning to get very choppy and bubbly. When I look around, all I see is the endless blue sea. Sorry, I couldn’t write a letter to you faster, but I could not write on the boat. On the boat, everyday it was the same thing all over and over. The blue sea stretched for over 100 billion miles in every direction, that was the only thing we saw and nothing else. The blatant smell of saltwater is all we could smell, together with the acrid taste of moldy bread is the only thing we tasted.…

Snowglobe I was practically born on the river with a yellow sun hat flopped over my eyes and ten delicate fingers tucked around straps to keep myself secure, not sure whether to laugh or cry at the waves pounding the front seat of my father’s raft where I played co-pilot. The river has always been a part of my life but several years ago I got to go on my first Grand Canyon river trip. This trip gave me a new perspective of the world. There was an excitement that surrounded a Grand trip different from any ordinary river trip. Whether it was the mystery of a trip that young children weren’t allowed to go on, the feeling of seniority over my peers because I was finally old enough and skilled enough to go, or the anticipation of whitewater that exaggerated stories had been told about year after year, the Grand was something special, even before I went.…

Growing up in Southern California we spent most of our summers at Lake Havasu and Parker. For as long as I can remember, getting to spend my summers on the lake with my close friends and family was what got me through the school year, knowing that for a full month I would have no cares in the world except for what adventures lay ahead of us. As the school year came to an end, all we could think about was getting to the lake to start our last summer together before we all ventured off in separate directions. Starting to pack and load up the RV was all I could think about for days, seeing as this was the last summer we would all spend together.…

Since my High school years, the years where everyone and everything was vulnerable and susceptible to failure, judgment, pain, and rejection it has always been a dream and interest of mine to learn how to swim. The relaxing feeling and confidence of submerging in a large array of water without fear or hesitation of drowning by such a necessity, I couldn’t imagine living without. Little did I know that my childish desire would haunt me till the days of my adulthood. Foolish and naïve thinking patterns entered my mind: “How hard could it be to swim? I mean, I am taller than everyone else here.…

Before I dived in the water, Matt had given me a pocket knife for defence, but I figured it wouldn’t work, considering there were gigantic creatures in the ocean. I dived into the water, but my heart was pounding, and then, I saw a large grey streak dashing by. Then it came back, and the closer it got to me, the faster I swam away, until it caught up.…
