Everyone knows it is important to have a healthy and balanced diet, yet not many people actually have one. The way someone eats could affect their body or even their quality of life tremendously. There is a saying, “You are what you eat,” and while it is not meant to be taken literally, the saying does have some truth to it. There are endless reasons of why individuals or even whole groups have an unhealthy diet. Contributing factors could be something as basic as a fast food or candy advertisement, which would most likely affect an individual, or something much more broad such as one’s culture or even a psychological aspect. A healthy and balanced diet is extremely vital to one’s health and their quality of life.
There are many reasons why people don’t eat the way they should. One of the reasons has to do with money. It is no secret that money controls almost everything in this world. The amount of money someone has affects everything in their life including their health. This is because there is a huge difference between the prices of healthy foods and junk foods. According to Sarah Impatenco, “Energy-dense foods -- those high in calories such as sweets and fatty processed foods -- are also cheaper than whole, fresh foods, and many low-income families rely on them as a major part of their diet.
