Always’ commercial uses emotional appeals to empower girls, make “like a girl” a positive statement, and show how great it is to be a girl. The commercial is also easy for young women and girls to relate to. The commercial begins with a teenage girl auditioning for a role and the message “What does it mean to be a girl?” on the screen. The director asks the girl to run like a girl. The teenager starts to jog in place and flap her arms around. The same thing is asked to more teenage girls, a man, and a young boy. All of them are then asked to throw and fight like a girl. The teenage girls, young boy, and man mine throwing a ball not so far, and scratching. Then the director asks young girls, 10 years or younger, to do the same thing. The young girls begin to run as fast as they can across the stage or in place.
