INTRODUCTION
Communication is the most important component within any project. The success of most projects, whether handled by external experts or by an internal cross- departmental team, depend upon crucial communication skills and techniques. On the other hand risk management also plays an equally pivotal role in the success or failure of a project. This is so because it is the art and science of identifying, analyzing and responding to risks throughout the life span of a project. It can therefore be propounded that both communication and risk management in projects is like ‘oxygen in a human body, which when taken away the body dies’.

Conflicts are inevitable and indeed they are an everyday phenomenon in work environments. It is therefore prudent, in this era of ‘emotional intelligence’, to understand their existence and importance. It should be quickly pointed out that conflicts should be embraced as a source of growth and transformation.
Thomas & Killman,(2015),add their voice to the assertion made above when they say that problems and conflicts occur more widely in team-oriented organizations, so it is the way they are managed that will determine the success or failure of a project.
