    Graduation is approaching quickly and senior year is coming to a close. Now is the time to be thinking about college and formulating a plan for a successful future. Both Oklahoma State University and Abilene Christian University are fantastic schools that offer many amazing opportunities. Choosing a college is a big decision that can have a huge impact on your life and it’s important to make an informed decision. Looking into the history of a college can help in the decision making process. The Abilene Christian University website says that in the summer of 1906 “A.B Barrett and Charles Robertson decided to form a school in west Texas and the Abilene churches of Christ agreed to support the project. Childers Classical institute opened in the fall of 1906 with 25 students from seventh grade to college level. In 1912 the schools name was changed to Abilene Christian College. In 1927, with the help of a $75,000 contribution from the city of Abilene, the board of trustees purchased 680 acres northeast of Abilene. In addition, residents donated 75 acres of adjoining land. The new campus opened in the fall of 1929. On February 22, 1976, the name was changed to Abilene Christian University. In July 2015, the university signed a lease for an expansion campus located in Addison, Texas.
