The movie ,Monty Python, does an excellent job of mocking religion and serious events from the past. The knights look to religion for answers. Instead of God being a savior he is depicted as a mean spirited man who does not want to help. The mocking of the black plague shows the fear that people felt. When King Arthur gets to a difficult point on his journey he looks to God for help. He gets on his knees and starts begging for forgiveness. The points he makes during his prayer are all about…

The King Arthur legend thrived for centuries changed but untainted. That is, untainted until Monty Python came along. Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail (directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones in 1975) attempts (and succeeds, for that matter) to satirize the Legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table using a range of different techniques. These techniques include, but are not limited to, deflating the heroic stereotype, breaking the dramatic illusion and using…

Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones’ film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” portrays King Arthur in search of the Holy Grail, along with his trusted knights. Set in medieval England, the film offers a satirical yet comedic view of the way of life for the two most influential forces of the time, the church and monarchy. The audience quickly sees the timeless illogicality of the film. There were no police, no grazing sheep, no textile work, no cathedrals, abbeys or shrines awaiting pilgrim, no town…
