Otzi The Iceman is one of the oldest known natural European mummy’s that is extremely well preserved. He was found on September 19th, 1991 by two German hikers in the Otzal Alps. He was named after the place where he was found. When he was first found, people thought he was only 500 years old until scientists found out that he was from 3300BCE, more than 5000 years old. No one really knows how old he was, but most people think he was around 40-50 years old. There are many different theories on how he died and he may have turned into a mummy accidently by the freezing weather conditions. 1.2 When did Otzi live? What is this period called? How do we know this? What techniques were used to determine this? Otzi was from the copper age (Neolithic Period or New Stone Age) judging from the copper axe he carried with him and how long ago he died. Radiocarbon Dating is a very accurate but complicated dating technique that use C14. It is a reliable means of dating organic material. Unfortunately, Radiocarbon Dating can only tell you how long ago he died, not how old he was when he died. So scientists estimated that he was around 40 years old. 1.3 What was life like at this time? Describe how people lived, how they got their food, what this food was, what dangers existed at that time. Times were tough, and there was lots of tribal warfare. Otzi was probably running away from a fight. The people in that time would either have got their food from farming and hunting. When scientists…
In September of the year 1991, a mummy was found in the Ötztal Alps, near the Similaun mountain and Hauslabjoch, near the border between Austria and Italy. The mummy was nicknamed "Ötzi” or “The Iceman” The body was extracted using informal tools from the many layers of ice covering his body on September 22, 1991, and extracted the rest of his body with more formal equipment the following day. It was transported to the office of the medical examiner in Innsbruck, the capital of South Tyrol,…
In the modern era, analysis is a very well established and developed field of mathematics. It is well known that analytic proofs are very strict in nature and to prove anything in analysis requires a careful consideration of the behaviour and characteristics of the proposition on hand. Before analysis became as well founded as it is today, there was no standard of rigor for analytic proofs. So, many mathematicians gave analytic proofs that were heavily based on spatial and geometric intuition.…
alone the first pages of the story, Alfieri remarks on the people of red hook, and how they don’t like the law, instead following their own code, their version of “justice”; this also includes betrayal. Alfieri also remarks on the distrust between them,” I often think that behind that suspicious little nod of theirs lie three thousand years of distrust between them”. This not only shows how heavily dedicated the people of Red hook to their codes, this also shows how cautious they are of getting…

pilgrimage while he was eating. After Otzi was attacked, he went up and down to lose his pursuers. Then, after his friends failed. Otzi’s brother decided to do it himself, and he followed Otzi to a secret location only he and Otzi knew about. He shot him from thirty meters away, and with alacrity, came down, hit him in the head to knock him out, took the arrow shaft out, and went down the mountain to be wed to Otzi's wife. Otzi was on a spiritual pilgrimage when he was attacked by his…
first time, got killed in an avalanche. •Rainer Hölz, 47, who made a documentary about Ötzi’s recovery, died of a brain tumor. •Helmut Simon, 69, famous as the father of Ötzi because he was one of the German hikers who discovered his body, found dead in a stream after a 300 foot fall. •Dieter Warnecke, 45, head of the rescue team who looked for for Simon’s body, also died of heart attack soon after Simon’s funeral. •Konrad Spindler, 66, leader of a scientific team who examined the iceman in…
In this paper I would like to analyze the leadership style of Giovanni Voltolini, emerged during his guest speech at the Free University of Bolzano in January 2016. Giovanni Voltolini is the manager of the Italian branch of Nixon, an American company specialized in watches and, more in general, accessories for both man and women. During his speech, he discussed many aspects of his personal view of leadership. What I found particularly interesting was that, as the director of the Italian…
Valley (Holden 2003). Fig. 2 Shows Otzi in the vault in South Tirol Museum of Archaeology. Witze, A (2011) For His Last Meal, Iceman Ate Goat. Science News. 7(180):8 After the excavation of Otzi’s body scientists put his body in a climate and humidity controlled room so he wouldn't thaw. If Otzi’s body thawed the organisms on his body could activate and decay his body. His body is currently kept in a vault in Italy in an old bank building that is now named the South Tirol Museum of…
