Pound Cake, Patience, Tolerance, Perseverance, & Resiliency Thank you for joining Table Talk with Lawanna sponsored by Progressing through Therapy, www.progressingthroughtherapy.com. In this segment, I will provide how baking a pound cake aided me in developing valuable character traits and values; specifically, patience, tolerance, perseverance, and resiliency. Baking a pound cake is one of the best things that I have produced in my lifetime, so far. I began with a recipe outline not a recipe provided by my grandmother and mother - a recipe outline, not a detailed recipe - an outline. • One pound of butter • One pound of sugar • One pound of eggs • One pound of flour • and if you feel bold add some flavoring. • Pre-heat the oven to 300 to 375 degrees • Do not forget to prepare the right pan – coat the sides of your pan and flour ensuring all the edges are covered. I assembled all the required ingredients. Not the most expensive ingredients but the ingredients that fit into my grocery budget. Notice the outline does not state what kind of butter, what kind of sugar, the type of flour, and does not indicate what size for the eggs as well as the outline did not indicate a specific temperature for the oven. Keep in mind I was given an outline not a recipe. Did I mention that it was written on the back of an envelope? The journey begins… I developed patience by allowing the butter to settle to room temperature, soft but not melting, as well as allowing the eggs to…

I made Unstuffed Stuffed Bell Peppers on Saturday for the first time. When I share a recipe, I usually cook it more than once just to make sure I have the ingredients correct and my family approves of the recipe. I don’t take pictures during the first run because I don’t want to create a picture and everyone not love the food enough for me to share it. Something told me to grab the camera and take pictures even after I put everything in the pan. I’m glad I did because this recipe is fantastic!…

For this assignment, I went to McAlister 's Deli on Thursday, November 17, 2016. I had been to a few McAlister 's before, but I had never dined at the Cape Girardeau location. McAlister 's Deli is a casual restaurant chain. McAlister 's is known for their sandwiches, spuds, salads, soups, and of course their famous sweet tea. One of McAlister 's goals is to provide genuine hospitality to their guests. Even though I had been to a McAlister 's Deli before, my experience at this location was…

inspired someone to incorporate a new recipe into their reservoir of recipes. I have three examples of such instances. The first one was when I made a white bean hummus. Two women who participated were amazed at the recipe 's simplicity. No equipment like a food processor was needed. The recipe merely called for white beans (canned), some chives, lemon juice, and olive oil. They were combined in a bowl and then mashed. Then it was served with some delicious and refreshing raw vegetables. I had a…

Method Bean plants (Phaseolus vulgaris) were provided by the instructor for the experiment at Mount Royal University. There were four or more bean plants in each of the four pots. The first task was to choose the best three plants in each pot based on whether they had two big healthy leaves and so the three plants looked relatively similar. The excess plants were cut out so that each of the four pots contained three plants, making a total of twelve plants. Each of the four represented a…

vegetarian offerings on their menu. To see the potential of vegetarianism to become a profitable niche for a restaurant, I used peer-reviewed journals and compared the development of the vegetarian offerings by Applebee 's and Olive Garden. Although these restaurants are classified in the same category –casual dining –they do not address this special diet in the same manner. Due to the evolution of lifestyles, new culinary practices have emerged. Given the enthusiasm of some of these movements,…
