Once the psi is at approximately 125 the govenor will come on and shut down the pump to the airtank and not let it get above 120-140 psi

Prepare - make sure the pressure has built up to the govenor cut out



Check for pressure loss (explain the 4 steps to the examiner before I do them) - "I am going to turn my bus off, push in the service brake with my foot and push in my parking brake" do these in quick succession



With my foot still holding the service brake I am going to watch my air pressure gauges to make sure to air tanks do not lose more than 3psi in 60 seconds (time out 60 sec on watch)

How do I check for air pressure and pressure loss?

Brake Tests: low pressure alarm test - what do I need to notice and say and/or do?

With your foot still on the brake, turn the key to run without re-starting the bus. Say "I am going to pump my brakes to empty my air tanks. At 60 psi the low pressure alarm will sound and you can see a warning light"



Pump the brakes pedal and confirm the light and the alarm to the DOT tester

Brake Tests: emergency pop out test - what do I need to notice and say and/or do?

Continue to pump brakes (after low pressure alarm test) and say "between 40-20 psi the parking brake will pop out." Pump pedal until it happens

"My vehicle is equipped with an anti-lock braking system. I would test my service brakes by placing the transmission into drive, and push in the parking brake. I would move my bus forward at 5 mph and apply the service brake to stop the bus. The bus should stop smoothly without pulling to either side. The bus stopped smoothly without pulling to either side. My service brake has passed the test"
