Canada is a country with well developed health care sectors. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario set out to change their health care design in order to broaden their funding. This project caused the leadership to rethink how their business worked; when they were done, a new way of running the Heart and Stroke Foundation was born. Through this new thinking, the Heart and Stroke Foundation was able to run in the forefront of health care changes. It was able to review and change their research so that their work would still be effective. Not only that, but the organization needed to be sure their work was turning a return for their donors and those using their services. It is important to have outside help, so that there will be objectivity within the group. During the planning process the strategic team asked questions, which helped guide their planning in the right direction. Questions like: “What impact have they had and how?” and “What trends are highly important to the future and what is uncertain?” (Williams, Mabon, & Heim-Meyers, 2006). By asking these questions and formulating the best answers, HSFO was able to form a new strategy, because they had a better understanding of what they did and how well they did it. By developing a clear picture, the strategic group was able to find opportunities for the future and niches where they could invest more money for a higher turnout. The answers that lead to the wonderful discovery of opportunity were then backed by research that was performed by the external firm and backed by the clinical exports. By having the exact research and finding to support their new plan and ideas, the team was able to better qualify their new ideas for the future. The more support and proof they had, the more backing from the board they would have. Without the support of the board, the strategic planning team would not be able to begin implementing their ideas to change the future (Zuckerman, 2005). After presenting the research and new
