The very time consuming job of being a plastic surgeon would be interesting because they can make up to $900,000 per year, and they have the ability fix all sorts of problems people have. Some Plastic surgeons also go to 3rd world countries and help the people there who have deformities such as cleft palates. Surgeons get to help rebuild lives after devastating accidents. Plastic surgeons repair, reconstruct, and remove physical defects they also do cosmetic procedures (Greenwood). Plastic surgeons sometimes specialize in curtain areas of the body such as the head, neck, or hands (Plastic Surgeon; career profile and education). The skills it takes to be a Plastic surgeon are extensive. Surgeons must be competent in the management of complex wounds, the use of implantable materials, and in tumor surgery (Plastic Surgery). They must have good judgment and strong technical expertise and uphold ethical standards (Greenwood). Plastic surgeons also must have good communication skills to explain complex medical terms and procedures (Greenwood). Surgeons must have the knowledge and skill in the design and surgery of grafts, flaps, free tissue transfer and the replanting of that tissue (Plastic Surgery). Plastic surgeons have to be driven and focused individuals who are willing to go through many years of schooling and long work hours (Plastic Surgeon; career profile and education). To become a Plastic surgeon a person must complete at least 13 years of schooling. To start with one takes 4 years of undergraduate or premedical school, next is 4 years of medical school, and finally a minimum of 5 years of residency(Statistics). To become a plastic surgeon students must have a bachelors degree in a pre medical major such as biology or chemistry then enter medical school, after that surgeons complete residency, and finally they may pursue a fellowship (Plastic Surgeon; career profile and education).
