Grey's Anatomy: A Career As A Surgeon

Improved Essays
Ever since I had watched the show Grey’s Anatomy, I have wanted to be a surgeon. The show always made being a surgeon look like an interesting job. It even inspired me to possibly become a surgeon in the near future, since it gives so much information about the job. On the other hand however, being a FBI agent has always been one of my personal goals for my lifestyle in the future. Both of these jobs have very high pay, are always on call, and require a decent education. But, both jobs have very different work environments. The quality of having a high paying job that makes me stay on call 24 hours a day has pros and cons in both jobs at the same time. With being a surgeon, at anytime there could be an horrible incident that could happen, and I would have to be able to run into the hospital to help as fast as possible. “Many physicians and surgeons work long, irregular, and overnight hours. Physicians and surgeons may travel between their offices and hospitals to care for their patients. …show more content…
For being a FBI agent, “Assignments may be given at any location at any time. Every aspect of the agents work is of a confidential nature.”("FBI Agents" 399-404). This means that depending on the case given, will depend on the work environment. It’s not for sure that I will work in an office every single day. “Many physicians/ surgeons work in private offices or clinics, often with administrative and healthcare personnel” ("Physicians and Surgeons"). So, with being a surgeon, I would have to be in the same place all the time. All ways be in the same four walls for as long as I have to work. Also, surgeons work in hospitals too. So if I had to work in a hospital, it would get very chaotic and would still be inside the whole day. So, In order to be a FBI agent I would have different work environments every day. But if I were to become a surgeon, I would be in the same place all day until I get off

I am going to compare William Bell, a paramedic, and Tim Betita, a doctor of dental surgery and medical doctor. I’m going to compare them because both of their presentations were pretty interesting. Both of the jobs also seem to be fun and are often jobs thought of when thinking about the medical industry. I’m going to start with comparing the differences between the two. A paramedic takes about two years of schooling after high school and normally have an associate's degree, while a medical doctor needs to have a medical degree and takes about 15 years of schooling after high school.…

You do not necessarily need to be a doctor or a nurse to enter the medical industry. There are several medical jobs that are easier than being a doctor or a nurse but also play a significant role in the world of medicine and healthcare. One example is being a phlebotomist. The Anatomist: A True Story of Gray's Anatomy When I started reading “The Anatomist: A True Story of Gray's Anatomy” I didn't find it interesting, I don't know if it was because it was a book about another book or because I thought it was going to be like Gray's Anatomy the show but it wasn't. However, the first thing I noticed about this book was the illustrations, they were magnificent. The bibliography was the other thing I noticed, I always knew that you needed sources to make a good book, but Bill Hayes had eight pages of sources!…

Forgetting to do this can lead to emotional stress, which has a negative effect on the body. A surgical technician not in full control of himself causes things to go wrong in the operating room. What I have to do in high school is acquire a job, volunteer (mostly in medical areas), acquire work experience, and keep high grades in my classes. This scholarship is exactly what I need to help push me towards my next goal; becoming a college graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Sleep Studies. My largest passion is the human brain because it controls the entire body and our world. Without the brain our world would be dull and simplistic because no one would have the ability to make their own decisions. I believe that something that should be admired and further explored.…

Once the individual is employed by the agency, the next crucial step is training. As fun as it would be to simply begin work the next day, it takes approximately twenty weeks to absorb the extended knowledge and criteria that an agent must know: “The FBI Academy is located in Quantico, Virginia, the trainees reside on campus and participate in various training activities, classroom hours, training in physical fitness, and practical application of defense tactics and firearms” (fbi.gov). Once being admitted into the agency, new agents are then prepared to begin their employment. The FBI’s employment strategy is different from any other occupation, they have the authority to send you to any area they need agents and the agent is to reside there…
