I learned that an anesthesiologist is not only a person that just gives you medicine to put you asleep. Just like a surgeon your life is in their hands. If anything bad was to happen during the surgery of the patient, an anesthesiologist will be the first member on the medical team that will be able to save your life. They have to be very careful with how much anesthesia they give you because they do not want to give you less than what you need which can result in you waking up during the surgery. Or they do not want to give you too much because that can result in death. They are just as important as a surgeon. The only difference is that while a surgeon is performing surgical work, an anesthesiologist is monitoring vital life functions which include: Heart rate and rhythm, breathing, blood pressure, body temperature, and fluid
