The literature presents moments that clearly prove William Golding guilty of committing libel damaging to humanity with Jack losing all civility and Simon bringing the reader back to a sense of reality. Jack’s excitement of killing the pig in the beginning of The Lord of the Flies continues throughout the book. Killing for meat in order to maintain needs is acceptable to society, but Jack begins to have a lust for killing that overwhelms him as he loses his civility. The chanting shows that Jack has lost control when he gets caught up in the moment and kills Simon and possibly without even realizing he killed a boy and not the beast. Many of the boys would not have done killing Simon if it were not for Jack’s chanting, which again proves William
