Red Cross and the FUEL AGENCY launched the ‘Even Wars Have Laws Campaign’. The Campaign was conducted in many cities throughout Australia such as Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane. The Campaign started on the 15th of February and lasted until the 20th of February. The street campaign was designed to educate Australians on the difficulties people around the world who live in conflict zones, remind Australians to be thankful for what they have, and why the Geneva Convention is important. The ‘Even Wars Have Laws’ campaign began as a response to a national survey conducted on one-thousand Australians to evaluate their knowledge and understanding of the Geneva Convention’s key principles. The survey showed that nearly half believed that the Geneva conventions have no real effect in war time. The Campaign allowed the Red Cross to broaden its horizons and find new and more effective ways of promoting the humanitarian agenda of the Red Cross and reinforce its reputation for its new and innovative humanitarian policies. The positive results of the campaign that arose were that it has encouraged the Australian Red Cross to find new and innovative ways to promote and inform the issues of humanitarian concern.
