Ever wonder how the American Red Cross got started? Well, Clara Barton had a little to do with the start of the Red Cross. All it took was the skills of being a nurse and the courage to do it.
Born in Massachusetts on December 25, 1821 [History.com] was Clara Barton. Clara grew up with a dad that happened to be a captain in the war. Since her dad was a captain, he had to know all about geography and he had taught Clara a few things. Clara also picked up a few facts about the battlefield.
As Clara started to get older, she wanted to become a nurse, so she did. She had become a nurse of the American Civil War, thanks to her dad's help of learning geography. Later in Clara’s career, she went to Europe to help with the International
